Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never taken Pilates before. Is that okay?

Absolutely. You do not need previous Pilates experience to begin at BK. Our beginner-friendly classes are designed to help you learn the movements, understand the equipment and build confidence as you go.

If you’re new to BK or new to Reformer Pilates, we recommend starting with our NEW Intro To Pilates Foundations: 4 Week Course (offered seasonally) or Core & Restore or BK Signature Reformer. All are beginner-friendly and give you a strong introduction to the foundations of the method.

How long are the classes?

All BK Pilates classes are 45 minutes. For your first visit, plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you have time to meet your instructor, get settled, and become acquainted with the equipment.

Is BK Pilates a classical Pilates studio?

No. BK Pilates is a contemporary Pilates studio offering creative, innovative reformer & tower workouts set to fun, high-energy music.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows you to move freely and will not get caught in the equipment. Bring a reusable water bottle and grip socks.

BK Pilates is a shoeless studio, and grip socks are required for every workout. You may bring your own or purchase a pair in the studio for $15.

How do I reserve my first class?

Classes should be booked in advance through the BK Pilates website. Space is limited, and a spot cannot be guaranteed for walk-ins.

What if I am running late?

For safety reasons, clients cannot enter class more than five minutes after the scheduled start time. Please arrive at least five minutes before every class—and 10-15 minutes early for your first visit—so you have enough time to check in and get set up.

What is the cancellation policy?

BK Pilates has a strict 12-hour cancellation policy for all class bookings. Cancellations or changes must be completed online at least 12 hours before the scheduled class time. Cancellation requests sent by email are not considered valid. BK Pilates has a strict 24-hour cancellation policy for all private sessions.

Cancellations made more than 12 hours before class are considered early cancellations, and the class credit will be returned to your account. Cancellations made within 12 hours of class are considered late cancellations and will result in the loss of the class credit and a $15 fee.

Clients who do not cancel and do not attend class will also be charged a $25 no-show fee.

Can I bring my kids with me?

We love kids, but for safety reasons, children cannot wait in the studio while a caregiver takes class. Clients must be 16 or older to participate in regular classes, with the exception of designated teen classes.

Can I take class if I am pregnant or returning from an injury?

Clients who are pregnant are welcome to attend after being cleared by their medical provider. Please speak with your instructor before class so they can provide appropriate modifications.

If you’re returning from an injury, we recommend beginning with a private, or either core & restore or signature reformer classes to rebuild strength and stamina while focusing on form. Please let your instructor know about any injuries or limitations before class, and consult your medical provider when determining whether group classes are appropriate for you.

If I have a membership can I pause it at any time?

Pilates Affair 3-Month Memberships do not have the ability to pause at any time. You can always cancel after 3 months and rejoin. 12-Month Memberships allow one 30-day pause with a doctor's note within the 12-month period. Should you have a longer medical situation, situations are handled on a case by case basis.
